Your Development

To maintain and enhance the services provided to all existing and potential SGS customers, and to be in a position to meet the challenges of the future, it is essential that our principle asset – our employees – have the relevant skills and knowledge to perform.

SGS seeks to recruit and retain high quality employees with appropriate skills, knowledge and experience in all aspects of the business. We are committed to continuous investment in our employees to enable them to develop their personal potential in such a way that they can make the fullest and most effective contribution to the success of the business. In so doing, our aim is to identify and meet training needs of employees at all stages of their careers, covering the initial induction period, job-related training, personal development training and specific skills training.

Individual development needs are assessed continually in accordance with the needs and objectives of the business. We communicate to employees our vision and their role in achieving this goal through an overriding Company Vision Statement, supported by published business plans, the Human Resource strategy, team briefings and individual discussions and reviews with relevant managers.

Training represents an important investment in employees, and the Company recognises that adequate financial resources are required to implement an effective and comprehensive training strategy. As such, the Company aims to dedicate between 0.5% and 1.0% of all revenues towards the development of its employees.

We realise to improve performance by developing abilities and skills, training must reflect the needs and aspirations of the individual concerned. Employees are allowed to take the initiative in training matters where appropriate, being part of a shared responsibility for developmental matters between the individual, line management and the HR department.
