SOCIAL SYSTEMS LEAD AUDITOR TRAINING COURSE

Aims
To be effective, the audit of an organisation’s conformance with social responsibility specifications requires auditors who understand labour and social issues and are properly competent in systems audit. The purpose of this course is to provide confidence to all concerned that auditors who have successfully completed this programme are competent.

At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

• understand the potential range of social and ethical issues that face organisations and auditors, and the range of conventions, specifications, codes of conduct and other initiatives
• describe the fundamental purpose of a management system and explain the purpose, content and interrelationship of the SA8000 or Ethical Trade Initiative (ETI) Base Code and the relevant legislative framework
• explain the role of an auditor to plan, conduct, report and follow up a social system audit in accordance with ISO 19011
• plan, conduct, report and follow-up a social system audit in accordance with ISO 19011 and by interpreting the requirements of SA 8000 or the ETI Base Code

Profile
This five day programme is a mix of interactive presentations and practical workshops designed to take participants through the broad background issues and the key stages of a social systems audit.

The course includes a two-hour examination and participants are subject to continuous assessment throughout the course.

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will have met the training requirements for registration as a Social Systems Auditor with the IRCA.
