Achieving Excellence Through ISO 9004 Self-Assessment
Aims: This two day course helps participants to build on their existing quality achievements, using their ISO 9001 system as a basis for moving towards business excellence. During the course, participants will be introduced to an important new model for building business excellence – ISO 9004:2000, the new International Standard for Performance Improvement. Designed to sit alongside ISO 9001, this Standard helps organisations to achieve maximum returns on their investment in their quality system, while providing links to broader approaches to quality management, such as the EFQM/BQF Business Excellence Model.
By the end of the course, participants will:
- understand what is meant by ‘excellence’ and how world-class organisations are seeking to achieve it
- appreciate the role of ISO 9004 in moving towards excellence, and how it works with, but differs from, ISO 9001
- appreciate how ISO 9004 connects with other recognised excellence models
- have reviewed different approaches to self-assessment
- have considered the implications for implementation within their own organisation
Profile: This two day course uses case studies and workshops to allow participants to become familiar with different approaches to selfassessment, such as the ‘matrix’ and ‘proforma’ approaches. While the focus is on using these tools in the context of ISO 9004, such techniques can also be used alongside many other approaches to business excellence. If taken on an in-company basis, this course can be tailored to ensure that it becomes the basis for launching self - assessment within the organisation and is ideally suited to management or quality team launch training.
