Choosing a course
We hope that our training directory contains all the information you need to make your decision on the courses you require. The directory contains a number of elements to help you make your decision, including:
Levels of development – these give guidance on the level of pre-course knowledge required and the level of the course content, as well as assisting you plan your development through a series of courses.
Accreditation – gaining an accredited certificate may be important to you for career development and professional membership. Our accredited courses are clearly shown.
Course structure/clear aims and objectives are given for each course. However, if you would like to find out more information or speak to someone in person, then please contact our Customer Service Team. We can even arrange for you to speak to the course tutor if you have a particularly technical question.
Also, since deciding on the delivery format is important, we offer a wide range of formats from public courses, in-house presentation and e-learning. Again our Customer Service Team will be able to advise the most cost-effective choice for you.

On receipt of your booking, you will receive an acknowledgement letter within 10 days then approximately four weeks before the start of the course, you will be sent joining instructions, including details of the venue and any pre-reading.
A pre-course evaluation form will be included in joining instructions for you to complete and return. These forms will be individually assessed by our tutors, to ensure that you receive the maximum benefit from the course.
How do I pay?
We offer a wide a variety of payment methods including cheque, credit card and BACS transfer. In addition, if you would like us to invoice your company this can be easily arranged as well. See enrolment form and our General Business Terms.
Venues & accommodation
All of our publicly scheduled courses are held in four-star hotels in easy access locations. In addition, SGS undertakes regular audits of all our training venues to ensure they meet our high standards.
As some courses include evening work, we often recommend that you book accommodation to enable you to focus on this work and also have access to your tutor.
By simply returning the accommodation booking form included with your joining instructions, we will arrange your accommodation for you.
Do I receive a certificate?
You will receive a certificate on all of SGS’ courses. The certificate will state the level you achieved on the course in line with assessment and course accreditation requirements.
What do I bring?
Everything you need for an SGS course will be provided. If you need to bring anything such as pre-course work then this will be clearly stated in your joining instructions.
What do I wear?
Being comfortable on one of our courses is important, therefore, we do not have a dress code for SGS courses. Most participants on our courses feel comfortable in smart/casual clothing.
If things change
If you need to cancel your booking, let us know in writing at least 28 working days before the start of the course and we will not charge you.
If a participant wishes to transfer to a later courses then this can be done free of charge up to 28 working days before the course start date. After this time we will charge a 25% administration fee.
If at the last minute you find you cannot attend the course, your place can be substituted by a colleague at no additional charge.
Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, SGS United Kingdom Ltd occasionally has to cancel courses. In such circumstances, participants will be offered an alternative date or a full refund.
