THE QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM STANDARD

THE QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM STANDARD: ISO9001:2008 HAS BEEN ISSUED

The new version of the standard introduces some clarifications of pre-existing terminology.

Although the revised standard does not contain any new requirements, you should review the impact of the clarifications and identify whether they have any effect on the details of your own quality management systems. To find out more about the standard, follow this link where you can join one of the planned webinar briefings or view a presentation of the new standard that we have introduced for our customers.

All ISO 9001:2000 certificates will be transferred to the new standard by 15 November 2010, at which point ISO 9001:2000 will be withdrawn and any certificates to this standard will become invalid. This applies irrespective of any expiry date shown on your current certificate.

As the transition period is limited to two years and due to the large volume of registered clients, our plan to transfer existing clients to the new standard is as follows:

  • During 2009 all recertification audits and extensions to scope shall be conducted to ISO 9001:2008.

  • During 2010 all remaining 9001:2000 certificates shall be transferred during routine surveillance and recertification audits.

This will allow us to make your transition with no additional charge; however, if you would like to undertake the transition at an earlier scheduled surveillance visit a charge of £100 per certificate will apply.

As a result the transfer to the new standard will be seamless.
